H-E-B spotlights pharmacy service

Supermarkets continue to use their pharmacy departments to highlight their health and wellness offerings. That includes leading Texas food and drug retailer H-E-B.

In this short video posted this week, H-E-B emphasizes the personalized service provided by its pharmacists, as well as their professionalism. The retailer also promotes its Saturday health screenings. The message to consumers: H-E-B is a convenient health and wellness destination.

Overall, there are more than 240 H-E-B Pharmacy locations in the chain’s approximately 360 supermarkets. About 35 stores also have RediClinic retail health clinics.

It’s clear that consumers hold supermarket pharmacies in high regard. Among brick-and-mortar pharmacies, the supermarket segment had the highest average score (851) in pharmacy customer satisfaction on a 1,000-point scale in the J.D. Power 2015 U.S. Pharmacy Study. The segment average satisfaction score was 842 for drug chains, 822 for mass merchants and 820 for mail order.

Wegmans finished first overall and in the supermarket pharmacy segment in the J.D. Power study with a score of 887, followed by Publix (871), H-E-B (866) and Kroger (861).
