DUBLIN, Ireland — Horizon Pharma plc is moving its U.S. corporate headquarters to a larger facility in Lake Forest, Ill., to accommodate its expanding organization.

Horizon said Monday that the new office space, located at 150 South Saunders Rd. in Lake Forest, is about triple the size of its current U.S. headquarters in Deerfield, Ill., and can house nearly 600 employees. The company will occupy the first through fourth floors of the 160,000-square-foot building.

The expansion and relocation is expected to be completed in January 2016.

“Horizon has come a long way in eight years, from one employee working in a coffee shop to more than 700 global employees,” stated Timothy Walbert, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Horizon Pharma. “In the last year alone, we have added nearly 100 employees in our U.S. headquarters and have experienced tremendous growth in the business overall.

“With this progress, as well as planning for future expansion, we needed to increase our physical space,” Walbert noted. “Our new U.S. headquarters will provide us room to continue on this growth trajectory and, ultimately, to serve more patients.”

Horizon’s global headquarters are in Dublin, Ireland. The biopharmaceutical company markets seven medications through its orphan, primary care and specialty business units.
