ARLINGTON, Va. — For just over 40 hours this week, the unique dynamics and national implications of Houston’s retail, health and wellness market will be under thorough examination by the NACDS Retail Advisory Board. The group – which evaluates CPG and retail topics and makes programming recommendations to the NACDS board of directors – brings its popular Market Immersion series to Houston, May 13 to 15.

The event launched Monday with a Houston Market Overview presented by Kate Duffy, associate client director, Nielsen. Also today, Laura Bowen, manager, and Rodey Wing, partner, of A.T. Kearney, will presented: “Single, Married, It’s Complicated … What You Should Know About Strategic Partnerships.” Dr. Umair Shah, executive director, Harris County Public Health, completed the Monday program by sharing insights on “Health. Where Innovation, Engagement and Equity Meet.”

Approximately 60 representatives of NACDS chain- and associate-member companies will engage in vibrant discussions of topics including:

  • strategic retailer-supplier partnerships
  • outreach to multi-cultural consumers via social media
  • innovation as a competitive advantage
  • business opportunities through 5G
  • health equity
  • perspectives on pharmacy’s future.

Presenters and discussion-leaders include representatives of:

  • Nielsen
  • A.T. Kearney
  • Harris County Public Health
  • Facebook
  • XRC Labs
  • University of Houston College of Pharmacy.

Store tours consistently rank as a highlight of the Market Immersion tour stops. In Houston, participants will visit:

  • 99 Ranch
  • B8ta
  • CVS HealthHUB

The Market Immersion series is considered a highly valuable component of NACDS’ focus on fostering business community, understanding and opportunities. It integrates with the NACDS Annual Meeting, the NACDS Total Store Expo, the NACDS Regional Chain Conference, and NACDS Week in New York City.
