CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif. — Markwins Beauty Brands announced the passing of its renowned leader, Eric Sung-Tsei Chen. He was 63 years old. The beloved CEO and founder passed away unexpectedly from respiratory illness.

Eric was an inspirational visionary who expanded Markwins holdings with confidence and a keen sense of the ever shape-shifting global beauty category. He, above all, defined himself as a devoted husband and a committed father and grandfather. Eric’s mentorship to all with whom he interacted in his career was unsurpassed; his personal friendships were rich and spanned decades.

As Markwins transitions through this period, Lina Chen will continue to serve as Chairman and CEO, supported by John Stephenson managing day-to-day business operations. In addition, Markwins will continue to rely on guidance from a deeply established, highly-tenured executive team comprised of Eric Weeks, President of Sales NA; Giancarlo Di Majo, MD Markwins International Sales; Jane Chen, COO Manufacturing Divisions; Julie Hsu, EVP of Finance; Alice Chen, SVP of Marketing/Head of Corporate Communications; Elaine Chen, SVP of Marketing; and Emily Huang, SVP of Marketing.

“Markwins lost a brilliant and creative genius in Eric Sung-Tsei Chen, while the world lost an amazing human being. Eric’s professional legacy – a global corporation with more than 5,000 employees and a vast portfolio of brands built from the ground up with determination, discipline and love – is something of which he was very proud. His tireless spirit and integrity will live on in the halls -and hearts- of Markwins,” said the company in a statement.
