Beauty players enlist social media stars to help boost brands

JEN ATKIN

Many influencers grow up through cosmetics, but Jen Atkin came to fame as a hairstylist, especially to the Kardashian/Jenner clan as well as Chrissy Teigen and Gigi and Bella Hadid.

She launched her own hair care line, called QUAI, in 2016 and developed a digital magazine for the hairstylist community called ManeAddicts.com. QUAI just rolled out in all Sephora doors.

She uses direct messaging on social platforms to get feedback from fans. There are 2 million followers for her @jenatkinhair Instagram. Her QUAI account has about 250,000 and growing.

KRISTINA BAZAN

Kristina Bazan was one of L’Oréal Paris’ first social media ambassadors in 2015. At that time, the company called her a “bridge between classical advertising and the consumer.” She joined Julianne Moore, Naomi Watts and Blake Lively — all examples of what was more traditional at that time.

Bazan was raised in Switzerland and the U.S. During high school, she began documenting her daily outfits on Lookbook. Soon thereafter, she launched Kayture, which covers beauty, fashion, lifestyle and travel. Her blog is found at Kayture.com, where she is known for her posts on luxury brands.

Her Instagram (@kristinabazan) has 2.4 million followers and is dominated by lifestyle and travel content with occasional beauty shots.

CHRISTINA CAGLE

Known as Chrisspy, Cagle has nearly 1.7 million subscribers to her Chrisspy Makeup YouTube channel and 3.8 million Instagram (@chrisspy) followers.

She honed her makeup skills working for MAC cosmetics in San Francisco before moving to Los Angeles, where she started posting online photos to tout her makeup techniques.

Cagle was recently a judge for NYX Professional Makeup’s FACE Awards.
