MISSISSAUGA, Ontario — Warren Jeffery has returned to Rexall Pharma Plus as chief operating officer. He had retired from the chain in 2011 as chief development officer and interim chief merchandising officer.

Jeffery will lead store operations, merchandising, real estate and acquisitions with the objective of accelerating growth.

“Rexall’s strategy has never been more compelling, and our customers are responding favorably to our new brand positioning,” chief executive officer Frank Scorpiniti said in announcing the appointment. “Warren, a registered pharmacist, brings tremendous retail experience and a proven track record of success in growing retial pharmacy businesses. “Warren’s experience gives me great confidence in his ability to accelerate Rexall’s growth and help the organization navigate through new government reforms that continue to expand community pharmacists’ scope of practice.”

Jeffery had been with the company for seven years before retiring, serving for a time as chief operating officer for the Rexall corporate store division.

Joining the retailer with a mandate to bolster corporate store operations, he helped it achieve significant gains in store capabilities, strategies and processes in operations, real estate, acquisitions and pharmacy services. He was pivotal in the rollout of more than 200 prototype stores, the development of progressive employer‐based and specialty programs, and the launch of Rexall Reminder Ready, a first-to-market medication compliance program.

Jeffery’s retail pharmacy career spans 35 years. Before coming to the Katz Group, he served in senior executive roles in operations, merchandising and marketing at Perry Drug Stores, Revco D.S. and Phar‐Mor Deep Discount Food & Drug as well as at McKesson Corp.
