FAIRFIELD, CALIF. — With its latest product line, the Jelly Belly Candy Co. is bringing more emotion to the jelly bean.

The new Jelly Belly Mixed Emotions Collection pairs favorite flavors of the brand’s jelly beans with an emotion. Each bean is stamped with a matching face to illustratre those feelings.

Five flavors are slated to become available this spring, Jelly Belly said. The flavors and emotions include Lemon for happy (yellow), Sour Apple for playful (light green), Orange Crush for love (orange), Berry Blue for sad (blue) and Sizzling Cinnamon for grumpy (red with orange speckles).

“We’ve toyed with connecting feelings and flavors in various ways in the past,” stated Rob Swaigen, vice president of global marketing for Jelly Belly. “Emojis are a big part of how we communicate with each other through text, social media and in email, and their popularity gave new life to this idea.”

The Mixed Emotions Collection launches with a range of package sizes — including snackable and shareable bags and a gift box — and consumers can select flavors individually or combine them for their own mix.

Packages include a 1-oz. bag for snacking, a 1.2-oz. flip-top box also sized for snacking, a 2.8-oz. Grab & Go bag suitable for sharing, an 8.75-oz. resealable pouch bag for snacking or sharing with larger groups of people, and a 4.25-oz., five-flavor gift box with the flavors/emotions displayed in individual compartments.
