WASHINGTON — On Wednesday, the Pharmaceutical Care Management Association (PCMA) announced that Jon Roberts, executive vice president and chief operating officer of CVS Health becomes chairman of PCMA’s board of directors.

“I’m honored to serve as chairman of the PCMA board of directors, supporting the association’s efforts to change the dialogue around prescription drugs with a greater focus on how they improve patient outcomes and lower the overall cost of care for our clients and their members,” said Roberts. “With the growing prices of prescription drugs and complexity in health care today, we need to create meaningful ways to ensure consumers and their health care teams are able to choose and use the medications most appropriate for their needs and in an affordable way.”

PCMA is the national association representing America’s pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) which administer prescription drug plans for more than 270 million Americans with health coverage through Fortune 500 companies, health insurers, labor unions, Medicare, Medicaid, and the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program, as well as the Exchanges established by the Affordable Care Act.

“I’d like to thank John Prince for his leadership, hard work, and dedication to this organization as PCMA’s chairman over the last year, and congratulate Jon Roberts on his new role,” said PCMA president and chief executive officer JC Scott. “During this critical time, our industry will benefit greatly from the experience and expertise that Jon Roberts brings as the next chairman of PCMA. Jon understands that the core mission for PBMs is to be the primary advocate for consumers in the fight to reduce prescription drug costs and improve patient care.”
