Kerr Drug adds synchronized refills

RALEIGH, N.C. — Kerr Drug has introduced a new synchronized prescription refill service.

Called Simplify My Meds, the service utilizes Kerr’s new central-fill center in Raleigh to make getting prescriptions filled easier for customers while freeing up pharmacists to spend more time with patients.

“We have been moving beyond a simple dispensing model, which is critical in keeping pace with the changing retail pharmacy world, as well as how our patients interact with it,” chief executive officer Tony Civello says. “That is why we have already deployed programs like auto refill, mobile app, text messaging and now Simplify My Meds.

“We must not only find technologies to maximize the utilization of our pharmacist resources but be reachable in how and where our customer needs to be,” he says.

Pharmacy patients can enroll in Simplify My Meds and pick a date each month that is convenient for them to pick up their maintenance drugs. Kerr will then ensure that the patient’s prescriptions will be ready for pickup on time.

In addition, patients will have access to free consultations each month for any concerns about medications.

Civello says that programs such as Simplify My Meds coupled with central-fill facilities will allow pharmacists more time to counsel patients, helping to drive medication adherence and reduce overall health care costs.
