DALLAS — Kimberly-Clark Corp. has been recognized by Walmart as the discount store giant’s 2009 International Supplier of the Year.

The manufacturer said Thursday that the Walmart award is determined by several key performance indicators that measure such variables as sales performance, inventory metrics and delivery rates.

Kimberly-Clark reported that it significantly outperformed on almost every indicator and was the only supplier selected for the honor.

"This award recognizes the strategic alignment of our teams with Walmart around the world," John Scholes, vice president of Walmart international development at Kimberly-Clark, said in a statement. "This global award was earned for achieving business goals over a sustained period, and every country played their part. It was a real team effort, and we are delighted to be recognized for our efforts."

Scholes and Steve Jones, Walmart international business manager at Kimberly-Clark, received the award on behalf of the company.

This is the second award that Kimberly-Clark has received from Walmart this year. Kimberly-Clark Brazil was also honored with Walmart Brazil’s Sustainability Award for providing the retailer a 100% recycled bath tissue under the brand Neve Naturali.

Kimberly-Clark’s roster of health and hygiene product brands include Kleenex, Scott, Huggies, Pull-Ups, Kotex and Depend.
