GOUVERNEUR, N.Y. – Kinney Drugs, a 100% employee-owned leading pharmacy chain in New York and Vermont, has released the following statement regarding Pediatric COVID vaccines in its New York State pharmacies:

“October 29, 2021, the FDA authorized the emergency use of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 5 to 11. Before the vaccine can be administered in pharmacies, the CDC’s Advisory Panel on Immunization Practices (ACIP) must meet to deliberate and make recommendations on its use. This meeting is taking place today Tuesday, November 2, 2021. Ultimately, CDC Director Rochelle Walensky will make the final determination. However, before the vaccine can be administered to children in New York State, the NYS Department of Health must also provide official program guidance.

In anticipation of these decisions, Kinney Drugs is proactively working on protocols to ensure a vaccination experience that is as safe, comfortable, and convenient as possible for these young patients and their families. When Kinney Drugs protocols are complete and when appointments are opened, Kinney Drugs will alert the public as quickly and clearly as possible.”
