NEW YORK — La Roche-Posay has introduced Toleriane Double Repair Moisturizer, a line of skin care products that uses prebiotics.

Announced this week, the Toleriane collection includes two moisturizers and two cleansers. At the heart of the products is La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water, which contains prebiotic ingredients versus the deionized water of traditional moisturizers.

Research shows that prebiotics are a beneficial food source for bacteria and work to create a healthy environment for a good, diverse skin microbiome, according to La Roche-Posay. The skin’s microbiome is comprised of over 100 billion bacteria, fungi and microbes that populate the skin and interact with each other and with skin barrier.

Other key ingredients include ceramide-3, which helps reinforce the natural water retention barrier in dry skin by promoting moisturization, and niacinamide, a form of vitamin B3 with soothing properties.

Toleriane Double Repair Moisturizer (13.5 fl.oz.) is formulated with the highest concentration of the Prebiotic Thermal Spring Water and achieves barrier recovery after one hour and provides up to 48-hour hydration, La Roche-Posay said. There’s also an SPF version, Toleriane Double Repair Moisturizer UV (2.5 fl.oz.), the provides broad spectrum SPF 30 sun protection.

Toleriane Purifying Foaming Cleanser (13.5 fl.oz.) is for normal to oily skin and cleanses and removes excess oil. For normal to dry skin, Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Cleanser (13.5 fl.oz.)  delicately cleanses while retaining essential moisture.

The products also are dermatologist-tested to be safe for sensitive skin, allergy-tested, non-comedogenic/oil-free and fragrance-free, La Roche-Posay said.

Toleriane moisturizers carry a suggested retail price of $19.99, while the Toleriane cleansers are priced at $14.99. They can be purchased at CVS Pharmacy, Walgreens, Target, Ulta and Duane Reade as well as at select physician’s offices and on La Roche-Posay’s website.
