TAMPA, Fla.  — With an increasing number of people across the U.S. facing chronic health conditions and the risks associated with failing to manage multiple medications, today’s launch of CSS Health, a comprehensive medication adherence solutions provider, empowers health plans and pharmacies with the integrated tools they need to develop healthier medication regimens for patients.

The newly formed CSS Health combines Medicine-On-Time, the innovative multi-dose blister-pack drug compliance packaging for pharmacies, and Clinical Support Services, the leading independent MTM patient outreach platform for health plans, in a unique end-to-end adherence offering designed to help patients more effectively take their medications as directed.

“Following successful trials and industry studies, we have launched CSS Health today to help pharmacies and health plans think out of the pill box with transformational adherence solutions that dramatically simplify and improve medication management for patients,” said Guy Bryant, chief executive officer of CSS Health.

“Medicine-on-Time has been an innovator in compliance packaging for more than 30 years, including the latest blister-pack advancements that simplify even the most complicated multi-dose medication regimens,” Bryant added. “Combine that with Clinical Support Services’ MTM software platform and we have an all-in-one adherence solution that enables health plans and pharmacies to identify and effectively address medication management issues facing patients.”

A majority of Americans struggle to adhere to prescriptions, which impacts patient health and costs the healthcare industry billions of dollars each year. An estimated 125,000 deaths and 70% of medication-related hospital admissions annually are due to medication nonadherence.

Patients, health plans and pharmacies cite a wide range of reasons behind poor patient medication adherence, including prohibitive prescription costs and copayments, difficulty managing complex regimens, and lifestyle barriers such as limited access to transportation.

“Because drugs today are more effective but often come with a significant price tag, CSS Health is dedicated to helping pharmacies and health plans create real value through personal connections with patients aimed at helping them greatly improve adherence. Our ultimate goal is to empower patients with the support and services they need to reach their therapeutic potential in this emerging era of value-based and coordinated healthcare,” noted Jim Notaro, founder of Clinical Support Services and Chief Clinical Officer for CSS Health. “The more we can foster the critical provider-patient engagement, the more we can help improve the lives of millions of people, many of them struggling to properly treat their illnesses.”

CSS Health, which includes Medicine-On-Time, and Clinical Support Services, is a portfolio company of HealthEdge Investment Partners LLC and Brook Venture Partners.
