He had been senior vice president of Loblaw pharmacy and pharmaceutical partnerships.

Leger took the new role following the departure of Dr. Dorian Lo, who was executive vice president of pharmacy and health care at SDM, and left the company in December for personal reasons.

Leger has held roles of increasing responsibility after joining SDM in 2008 as director of category management. He was vice president of pharmacy procurement, and senior vice president pharmaceutical partnerships and MediSystem Pharmacy.

He was appointed senior vice president of Loblaw pharmacy and pharmaceutical partnerships last April.

During his tenure Leger has made significant contributions to both SDM and Loblaw on the pharmacy front, and he is an active contributor to industry associations. He worked in the hospital and generic pharmaceutical manufacturing sectors prior to joining the company.

Lo, who holds MD and MBA degrees, had been in his position at SDM since 2011.
