SALT LAKE CITY — Lice Clinics of America has rolled out its at-home Lice Remover Kit to major retail chains.

The company, which described itself as the largest network of urgent care clinics for lice treatment, as well as a provider of lice removal solutions, said the Lice Remover Kit is a first-of-its-kind product.

The over-the-counter kit contains a non-toxic liquid gel formulated to kill lice, detangle hair and facilitate the removal of dead lice and eggs, with no mess and a pleasant scent. It provides an easy-to-use dispenser for applying the gel and a sturdy comb for removing the lice and eggs.

The Lice Remover Kit is available now in select retail stores nationwide, including CVS Pharmacy, Target, Walmart, Giant Eagle, H-E-B and Safeway.

Lice Clinics of America noted that while OTC pesticide products dominate the lice treatment category, the emergence of pesticide-resistant “super lice” has made these solutions ineffective in stopping lice infestations. Developed in Lice Clinics of America’s urgent care lice clinics, the Lice Remover Kit is a pesticide-free option guaranteed to end even super lice infestations, the company said.

“We are so excited about the launch of our Lice Remover Kit, as it is an important part of our mission to provide safe and effective solutions for everyone and every budget,” stated Claire Roberts, chief executive officer of Lice Clinics of America, whose network includes more than 150 U.S. clinics and 100 international clinics. “Our innovative and science-based solutions now offer consumers the ability to cure lice infestations at one of our urgent care clinics or in the comfort of their own home. And unlike other over-the-counter products, ours even smells good, which is a testament to our desire to provide a pleasant user experience in an unpleasant situation.”

Lice Clinics of America is supporting the Lice Remover Kit launch with a digital advertising campaign on YouTube and Facebook for areas where the product has retail distribution. Dubbed “Lice Apocalypse,” the campaign video mixes humor and educational content on pesticide-resistant super lice and how families can cure it. The video also highlights the difference between the Lice Remover Kit and leading store-brand lice treatments, as well as the kit’s user-friendly application, easy rinse properties and pleasing scent.

“The CDC reports that 6 to 12 million new infestations of head lice occur in U.S. families each year. Many of these families struggle to find an effective solution to remove the lice,” according to Dr. Krista Lauer, medical director of Lice Clinics of America. “As a physician, I have seen many families suffer from lice infestations, and they simply do not know what to do. The Lice Remover Kit is an extremely cost-effective, do-it-yourself solution to successfully cure head lice infestations.”
