CHESTERBROOK, Pa. — LifeScan Inc. has launched the new OneTouch Reveal mobile app, which includes user-inspired features that let people with diabetes see their blood glucose monitoring results and connect their actions with trends.

LifeScan said Friday that the OneTouch Reveal app transforms blood sugar and activity timelines into quick visual snapshots.

Designed to drive patient engagement, other new features include a fingerprint login; an events newsfeed with relevant articles, set reminders, averages for 14-, 30- or 90-day time periods; and a break out of pre- and post-meal tagged results. The app also employs ColorSure technology, which highlights patterns that show users a bigger picture.

The new OneTouch Reveal mobile app was introduced on Friday at the 77th Scientific Sessions of the American Diabetes Association, according to LifeScan, a unit of Johnson & Johnson Diabetes Care Cos.

“Self-monitoring of blood glucose is still the most accurate, effective and accessible way people with diabetes can track their blood sugars. Now with our new OneTouch Reveal mobile app and digital platform, we can use enhanced connectivity and the new user experience to help patients use that information to make meaningful decisions and take an active role in their diabetes management,” explained Brian Levy, chief medical officer for LifeScan. “It’s this interconnected diabetes management system that changes the way patients see their blood sugar and enables physicians like me to help them find the right track to better diabetes self-management.”

LifeScan noted that the OneTouch Reveal app seamlessly synchronizes with the OneTouch Verio Flex blood glucose monitoring system with built-in Bluetooth Smart Technology. The connectivity allows users to see their blood glucose readings on the  mobile app via their smartphone or tablet and on their desktop computer through the OneTouch Reveal web app. The tool, too, makes it easier for patients to share their data with their health care teams during and between appointments, the company added.

Besides sharing blood glucose and other information with family and friends, OneTouch Reveal app users can connect and upload data to and from a variety of LifeScan partners and their offerings, such as the Apple Health app, retail incentive programs and participating health care systems, LifeScan said.

“We designed the new interface with engaging social networking apps in mind to appeal to patients new to digital diabetes apps, and to delight current OneTouch Reveal users,” stated Saleem Ahamed, vice president of LifeScan’s global franchise organization. “Users can quickly see the important events in their blood sugar right up front, like a newsfeed, and the meter and app pairing are now as simple as consumers have come to expect from popular devices like fitness trackers. For us, it’s all about helping our patients to quickly see and understand their results, so they can apply that knowledge to future actions and move forward.”

The new OneTouch Reveal mobile app is available as a free download for iOS devices at the Apple App Store and for Android devices on Google Play in 11 countries, including the United States, Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Portugal, Spain and the United Kingdom. LifeScan said the OneTouch Reveal apps is one of the top downloaded diabetes apps globally, with more than 312,000 downloads and 34 million plus blood glucose readings overall.
