RICHMOND, BC — London Drugs is teaming up with the Vancouver Firefighter Charities and BC Lions to safely collect toys and gifts that will go directly to thousands of families in need.

Ahead of the game with Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Saturday, October 15, London Drugs and Vancouver Firefighter Charities volunteers will be stationed outside Terry Fox Plaza from 5:00p.m. to 7:00p.m., to collect gifts and toys. Fans and members of the public can contribute by safely dropping off gifts that will go directly to families in need ahead of the holiday season. In addition, every fan who donates to the toy drive will be eligible to win a prize at the end of the game.

London Drugs and Vancouver Firefighter Charities will be running another toy drive event on Thursday, December 8 at select stores across Vancouver, before all toys will be delivered to the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau at a special event at Pan Pacific Vancouver on December 14. The Bureau helps thousands of children in local communities by providing services including toy and gift donations over the holidays.

“Every year it’s incredible to see the support from the community behind the toy drive,” says Clint Mahlman, London Drugs president and COO. “We are starting the toy drive earlier this year, working with Vancouver Firefighters and BC Lions to safely collect as many toys as possible for thousands of families in need. Whether or not you are going to the game, we encourage everyone to stop by Terry Plaza to contribute to the first event of this year’s toy drive.”

“With the holidays right around the corner, it serves as a reminder that there are a lot of people, especially young kids, in need,” says BC Lions vice president of business, George Chayka. “Teaming up with our great partner in London Drugs for an excellent cause in the Vancouver Firefighter Charities is something we as an organization take great pride in. We encourage all of our great Lions fans to contribute to this important cause.”

“The Vancouver Firefighter Charities is really excited for this year’s Pan Pacific toy drive on December 14th, says James Docherty, executive director, Vancouver Firefighter Charities.“We have a lot of great events leading up to the big day, so we encourage everyone to come say hi, drop off a toy or make a donation to help make a special Christmas for some young kids.”
