MONTREAL — Richard Brennan has been named senior vice president of retail banner management services at McKesson Canada.

The company said Tuesday that Brennan will oversee its expanding pharmacy banner business, which includes Guardian, I.D.A., The Medicine Shoppe Canada, Proxim and Remedy’s Rx.

Brennan, a 14-year company veteran, will report to McKesson Canada president Alain Champagne and become part of the executive team.

Before joining McKesson Canada, Brennan spent 18 years at Shoppers Drug Mart, where he served in various leadership roles focused on merchandising and operations.

“I am excited to welcome Richard to the executive team,” Champagne said in a statement. “As senior vice president of retail banner management services, Richard will bring his expertise and strong leadership philosophy to our retail banner operations.”

Dale Weil, most recently senior vice president of strategy and business development at McKesson Canada, had served on an interim basis in the role now filled by Brennan.

“I want to sincerely thank Dale for demonstrating passion and energy as interim senior vice president of retail banner management,” Champagne commented. “Her leadership has contributed to ensure a positive market position for our pharmacy banners and will contribute to an effective transition for Richard.”

McKesson Canada said Brennan joins other recently appointed senior executives, including Todd Baldanzi, senior vice president and chief financial officer; Paula Keays, senior vice president of pharmaceutical distribution and operations; Dimitris Polygenis, senior vice president of purchasing and manufacturer solutions.

Along with drug wholesale, health care product distribution and related services, McKesson Canada’s operations include a network of about 1,650 independent pharmacies.
