The consulting and sales services firm said Tuesday that Downey will serve as an MPG client lead, providing strategic management for a targeted portfolio of food and beverage clients and partnering with them to identify and capitalize on opportunities that increase performance and profitability over one or multiple engagements.

“For me, MPG’s client-focused mind-set and entrepreneurial spirit represents an ideal next step in my career,” Downey commented. “I am truly excited to be a part of the MPG team and look forward to helping clients achieve their goals.”

Downey brings to MPG more than 35 years of industry and consulting experience. MPG noted that his track record includes producing innovative approaches and long-term growth strategies in the areas of sales management, strategic planning, business development and category management.

Most recently, Downey was part of McKinsey & Co.’s Periscope team where he focused on go-to-market strategies, including consumer insight-backed pricing, promotion and assortment strategies. His background also includes deep food and beverage industry expertise, gained through his consulting experience and 26 years with PepsiCo and Quaker Oats, where he held leadership roles in channel strategy, sales and category management.

“We are delighted to welcome Mike to the MPG team,” stated Alison Chaltas, MPG’s head of consulting. “Manufacturers and retailers today face an unprecedented set of challenges and opportunities, and Mike’s experiences, analytical skills and keen strategic mind-set will bring tremendous value to the clients MPG currently advises and those we will work with in the future.”
