NACDS briefs membership on industry-specific election dynamics

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

In a memo to NACDS chain and associate members today, NACDS president and chief executive officer Steven Anderson, described detailed results of the 2018 Congressional elections from a pharmacy-specific perspective. The memo described changes in the leadership of key healthcare committees, the election results for Congressional champions of specific pharmacy issues, and other insights.

The NACDS Political Action Committee (NACDS-PAC) engaged in the elections at a record level, and achieved strong winning percentages that stand at 94 percent in the U.S. House of Representatives and 74% in the U.S. Senate, pending the outcome of elections not yet decided. These winning percentages are particularly remarkable given the volatility of the political landscape. NACDS is urging members to remain engaged in NACDS RxIMPACT grassroots advocacy programs to help advance pro-patient, pro-pharmacy policies among newly elected and returning members of Congress alike. In addition to today’s memo that focused on the U.S. Congress, a subsequent analysis will describe state-level results — once more complete information is available. NACDS
