WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Health has named a new chief information officer tasked with integrating its information technology and data with IT systems used by Aetna, which the company acquired last year.

Roshan Navagamuwa, who over the past year served as interim CIO, was named executive vice president and CIO of the combined health industry giant, leading all areas of technology operations and innovation. The move is effective ­immediately. He will report to executive vice president and chief operating officer Jonathan Roberts, the company said.

“We are bringing two world-class IT organizations together as part of this integration. While there are opportunities to integrate enterprise systems, the most exciting opportunities are what we can build as a result of the two entities coming together,” said ­Navagamuwa.
