RONKONKOMA, N.Y. — NBTY Inc. has appointed four senior executives to its management team, who will be charged with spearheading growth initiatives for the nutritional supplement maker and marketer’s branded businesses.

NBTY said Thursday that Andre Branch has joined the company as chief marketing officer. In that role, he will lead consumer and customer marketing efforts, as well as focus on strategies to build NBTY’s brands, including Nature’s Bounty, Sundown Naturals, Ester-C, Solgar and Osteo Bi-Flex. That effort will include developing the strategy, building brand and product roadmaps, and developing an innovation pipeline that leverages consumer data, shopper insights and media platforms.

Branch brings more than 20 years of brand-building experience to NBTY from companies including Kraft Foods, Diageo and, most recently, L’Oreal.

Derek Bowen has been named senior vice president and general manager for vitamins, minerals, herbals and supplements (VMHS). Coming to NBTY from Coty Beauty U.S., he will oversee the development and execution of strategic growth plans for all of NBTY’s U.S. nutrition VMHS brands, including Nature’s Bounty, Sundown Naturals, Osteo Bi-Flex and Ester-C.

Bowen has 20 years of experience in building and marketing well-known brands at consumer products companies such as Coty, Unilever, Sara Lee, Dial and P&G. As senior vice president of marketing at Coty, he was responsible for managing volume and profit for the U.S. cosmetics and fragrance portfolios, according to NBTY.

In addition, NBTY has appointed Bradley Charron as senior vice president and general manager for sports and active nutrition, supervising the development and execution of growth plans for all sports and active nutrition brands, such as MET-Rx, Pure Protein, Body Fortress and Balance Bar.

Charron joins NBTY from Chobani, where he served as senior vice president of marketing. His 15 years of experience also includes senior leadership positions at Under Armour, PepsiCo and Liz Claiborne.

NBTY also announced that it has promoted Jill Staib to vice president of strategic initiatives and private label, a newly created position. In that role, she will focus on identifying and capturing value from operational and market-based opportunities and executing plans for NBTY’s private label business, among other functions, the company said.

“NBTY’s portfolio of brands is among the most well-known and trusted in the industry, and we’re bringing in and promoting outstanding, experienced new talent that will drive our growth to the next level,” stated Brian Wynne, president of NBTY Americas and chief executive officer of U.S. nutrition. “These changes inject fresh thinking and perspective into the company while complementing our existing team of passionate and driven leaders.”
