FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Nipro Diagnostics Inc. has gained approval from the Food and Drug Administration for the True Metrix Air Self-Monitoring blood glucose system, which enables people with diabetes to test blood glucose and deliver data wirelessly to a smartphone.TRUEmetrixAIR_Meter[1]

Nipro said Friday that the True Metrix Air will be available starting in the second quarter at a “value price point” via retail, mail and distribution channels under store brands and Nipro’s own True brand of products.

True Metrix Air uses True Metrix test strips featuring Triple Sense Technology, which detects, analyzes and corrects for environmental and physiological variability — including hematocrit and temperature — with proven precision and accuracy, according to the company.

Nipro added that the new product is a key element of its strategic plan to create a model of interconnected patient health and wellness solutions that aids chronic disease management while increasing patient engagement.

“Our new True Metrix Air Self-Monitoring blood glucose system is technology with reach,” stated Scott Verner, president and chief executive officer of Nipro Diagnostics. “Nipro Diagnostics’ customers have a better way to deliver superior health and wellness products that empower people with diabetes and their health support network to make better decisions for a healthier life.”
