PLAINSBORO, N.J. – Novo Nordisk announced on Wednesday it has transitioned from blister packs to 30-count recyclable bottles for Rybelsus (semaglutide) tablets 3 mg, 7 mg, or 14 mg. Moving to a single, fully recyclable 30-count bottle minimizes waste and supports Novo Nordisk’s “Circular for Zero” initiative, aiming to reduce the company’s environmental impact. This transition also helps to generate additional manufacturing efficiencies for the organization.

Rybelsus should now be available in a bottle in most pharmacies; however, for a short period of time, some patients may still receive boxes of blister packs from the pharmacy. Patients should continue to take their medication as prescribed by their health care provider. Only the Rybelsus packaging has changed. The tablets, dosage, usage, storage, and handling instructions remain the same as before. Rybelsus must be kept in a dry place away from moisture at room temperature and should stay in the original packaging patients receive from the pharmacy until they are ready to take their pill. Patients should not put their individual Rybelsus pills in daily pill organizers or any other pill bottle they might have at home.

This transition to a single 30-count bottle will not impact price, coverage, out-of-pocket cost, or the patient savings and support offerings from Novo Nordisk.
