MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.––NowRx, a technology-enabled pharmacy that uses proprietary pharmacy software and advanced logistics technology to provide same-day and same-hour delivery of prescription medications, today announced that it has been named as one of two  finalists in the “Highest Accuracy” category of the Surescripts White Coat Awards.

This award recognizes the best electronic prescription accuracy as of August 1, 2020, based on Surescripts Quality Index Score which is a measure of overall prescription accuracy based on data provided by Surescripts Sentinel — an automated system that monitors the volume and accuracy of electronic prescriptions. The winner will be announced at the 2020 Surescripts Network Alliance Forum to be held October 6-8.

NowRx leverages high-tech micro-fulfilment centers and advanced, proprietary technology to provide free same-day delivery of prescriptions. Its innovative approach was developed from the ground up to improve both accuracy and speed when it comes to prescription fulfillment and delivery.

“By raising the bar on prescription accuracy and delivering medications promptly, we do more than provide convenience to customers,” said Cary Breese, CEO and cofounder, NowRx. “We help physicians improve medication adherence and health outcomes.” Breese explained that traditional retail pharmacies often fall short because they rely on outdated legacy software systems that are prone to bottlenecks and on manual processes that can result in errors.

Retail pharmacies are responsible for an estimated 55 million errors each year. “Those mistakes not only cost money. They can cost lives,” said Breese. “We are pleased that Surescripts recognizes all that we’ve done to build one of the highest-accuracy prescription systems ever built.”

NowRx recently raised $20M to help accelerate its technology roadmap for developing the most efficient and convenient pharmacy experience possible while improving accuracy in prescription fulfillment.

NowRx’s competitive advantage comes from its proprietary pharmacy management software technology, QuickFill (v3.5), which was built from the ground up to streamline and simplify prescription fulfillment and delivery while reducing costs and improving customer service. QuickFill has been certified by Surescripts Health Alliance Network, which unifies electronic health records (EHR) vendors, pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs), pharmacies, clinicians and health plans and connects QuickFill to more than 1.5 million physicians across the U.S. QuickFill technology also incorporates end-to-end robotic dispensing. When a customer clicks on the button to order a refill, that order is automatically routed to the nearest NowRx micro-fulfilment center, where the robots sort, count, bottle and label each medication in less than 30 seconds. The Quickfill software also streamlines the insurance approval process and even has an automated coupon feature that has saved customers millions of dollars by automatically searching for and applying drug manufacturer coupons.
