CLYDE, Ohio _ Rep. Jim Jordan (R., Ohio) visited Discount Drug Mart’s pharmacy here Monday.

Discount Drug Mart pharmacist Tom Conley talks to Rep. Jim Jordan.

Pharmacist Tom Conley and Steve Ferris, Discount Drug Mart’s government and public affairs director, met with Jordan and highlighted how pharmacies are trusted and accessible points for vaccines.

Conley and Ferris also asked Jordan to support an extension to 2026 of the Public Readiness and Emergency Preparedness (PREP)  Act’s authorization of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to administer COVID vaccines. They also asked him to back an expansion of the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program, a collaboration between the federal government and pharmacy networks to increase access to the vaccine.

“It’s our biggest priority to be there for our communities during the pandemic when it comes to medications, supplies, and especially the administration of the COVID-19 vaccine,” said Discount Drug Mart Senior Vice President of Pharmacy Pete Ratycz. “We have been preparing for this opportunity for months and are proud of being selected a COVID-19 vaccination provider. It’s a big responsibility and we are extremely confident in our ability to vaccinate all eligible Ohioans across all of our 76 locations. As an immunization destination, it’s an area we have great experience.”
