WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Health has named Violetta Ostafin executive vice president and chief strategy officer, effective July 11. She will succeed Josh Flum, who is leaving the company at the end of June.

Violetta Ostafin

Ostafin will lead strategy development across core businesses and identify new market opportunities and product innovations that accelerate growth and further the company’s vision.

“Violetta’s deep health care experience has been focused on bold innovation and finding new sources of growth, two priorities for CVS Health,” said President and CEO Karen S. Lynch. “Her accomplishments are driven by a passion for improving how consumers experience health care, which aligns with our goals and values.”

Ostafin will become a member of the company’s executive leadership team and report to Lynch. Prior to joining CVS , she served as Global Chief Operating Officer, Health Solutions at Aon, plc and CEO of Aon’s Latin America Health Solutions business. She was also a Managing Director and Partner at Boston Consulting Group, advising leading companies in the U.S. and globally around large-scale change, strategic growth and expansion. She has deep experience across the health care continuum, including a particular focus on business model evolution, introducing consumer-driven solutions and operational effectiveness.

“CVS Health has the assets and strategy to meaningfully change how care is delivered,” said Ostafin. “It’s such an exciting time to join a company that has redefined itself through a consumer-centric lens.”

Josh Flum

Flum, who is also head of CVS Health Ventures, is leaving the company after 18 years.

“I have had the privilege to work with so many great people and to help shape the choices we made as CVS Health transformed itself and the industry. he wrote on LinkedIn. “I am excited about what’s next for CVS and for my colleagues and friends who will write those future chapters. We have had so many accomplishments together over the years, but what I look back at most fondly are all of the people that have helped me to learn and grow — and I hope that I have returned that favor to others.”

As for me, I am off to my next adventure. Very excited for some time off and then back to using all of the skills I have developed over the years to have an even greater impact on health care innovation going forward.”
