PCMA issues statement on passage of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Package

WASHINGTON — Pharmaceutical Care Management Association (PCMA) president and CEO JC Scott issued the following statement on Congress’ passage of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Package:

JC Scott

“We applaud Congress for passing the infrastructure legislation, which, when signed into law, will enact a three-year delay of the Medicare Part D rebate rule. There is no question that the rebate rule, if implemented, would unravel the proven success and stability of the Medicare prescription drug program by significantly increasing beneficiary premiums and taxpayer costs.

“We are also encouraged by the inclusion of a permanent repeal of the rebate rule in the current budget reconciliation legislation. It is crucially important that Congress does not undo the progress made by eliminating the rebate rule by including policies in the budget bill that would increase premiums on Medicare beneficiaries.

We look forward to working with Congress and the Administration on policies to lower prescription drug costs and premiums for patients.”
