WASHINGTON— The Pharmaceutical Care Management Association (PCMA) announced that Drew Asher will be joining PCMA’s board of directors. He is the chief executive officer of Envolve Pharmacy Solutions.

PCMA is the national association representing America’s pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) which administer prescription drug plans for more than 266 million Americans with health coverage through Fortune 500 companies, health insurers, labor unions, Medicare, Medicaid, and the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program, as well as the Exchanges established by the Affordable Care Act.

In his role, Asher directs Centene Corporation’s PBM services, Prescription Drug Program and specialty pharmacy businesses. He also oversees Envolve Health, Centene’s family of specialty health solutions, including pharmacy, vision, dental, and PeopleCare.

“I look forward to working with PCMA and its board of directors to create meaningful change in the industry. Together, we are well positioned to make a positive impact on lowering drug costs and improving the health and well-being of consumers,” said Asher.

Dr. Alan Lotvin, executive vice president and chief transformation officer at CVS Health has taken the role of chairman of PCMA’s board of directors. Dr. Lotvin oversees all aspects of CVS Health’s PBM business including sales and account management, operations, mail service pharmacy, CVS Specialty and CVS Kidney Care. Dr. Lotvin also drives PBM strategy, new business development and client relationship management and retention.

“I’m honored to serve as chairman of the PCMA board of directors. I’ve been in this industry for more than 20 years and our role is more important than ever before,” said Lotvin. “As a physician and now leading CVS Caremark, ensuring access to affordable medicines is critical to the health care of patients.”

“I’d like to welcome both Alan and Drew to the PCMA Board of Directors,” said JC Scott, President and CEO of PCMA. “Our industry will benefit greatly from their experience, leadership and vision and understanding that the core mission for PBMs is to advocate for consumers in the fight to reduce prescription drug costs and improve patient care.
