BOCA RATON, Fla. — Eleven members of the Chain Drug Consortium have formed the Chain Pharmacy Alliance (CPA) as a contractual joint venture to aggregate their generic pharmaceutical volume into one compliant program.

“The CPA will drive increased generic purchasing value for its members and deliver consistent, dedicated high volume to its suppliers,” comments Edward Frisch, who serves as president and chief executive officer of the alliance and the consortium.

The members of the alliance are Bartell Drugs, Discount Drug Mart, Hartig Drug, Hi-School Pharmacy, Kerr Drug, Kinney Drugs, Lewis Drugs, Lifechek Drug, Navarro Discount Pharmacy, Osborn Drugs and Thrifty White Pharmacy.

The alliance will be managed by a panel of experienced member buyers, co-chaired by Owen Halloran, vice president of professional services at Kinney, and Ted Lingerfeldt, director of pharmacy procurement and analysis at Kerr.

The alliance will issue a request for proposal to all eligible suppliers. All members of CPA are committed to changing to the suppliers that the alliance selects and to deliver the forecasted volume to the awarded suppliers, the consortium says.
