Rite Aid launches ‘Game of Life’

CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid Corp. has set out to make shopping its stores fun, and possibly profitable, by launching a contest promotion based on a classic board game.

Called Rite Aid The Game of Life, and based on the Hasbro Inc. game, the promotion gives customers the chance to win $5 million in prizes, which include mortgages, cars and home makeovers.

Shoppers collect and match game pieces to win prizes. During January and February, they receive a game ticket each time they make a purchase at Rite Aid, and they can get another ticket for each bonus item they buy. Game boards are available at Rite Aid stores and online.

Each ticket includes four markers for the game board and one coupon. Customers must collect and match all the markers for a designated prize on the game board to win that prize.

“Rite Aid is excited to be the first drug store retailer to offer its customers a collect-and-win game,” said senior vice president of marketing John Learish. “Not only is Rite Aid The Game Of Life a great way to reward our customers for shopping at Rite Aid, it’s a way for them to have fun while doing so, and it offers them chances to win some great prizes.”

A separate promotion, meanwhile, aims to help Rite Aid customers lead a healthier life and achieve their goals of modest weight loss. Customers who buy $30 worth of select diet and nutrition products through January 23 earn a free $5 gift card.

The offer is being made in conjunction with a national healthy weight program at Rite Aid that is powered by Lindora, an online weight loss program that provides support in the form of food recommendations and menus, online weight tracking and food journaling.

Rite Aid has also put together a free weight management guide, provides online resources that include exercises by Denise Austin, and offers face-to-face support from its pharmacists.
