CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid Corp. has promoted retail pharmacy veteran Dan Miller to senior vice president of pharmacy.

Filling Miller’s former post as vice president of pharmacy operations is Karen Staniforth, who was promoted from regional pharmacy vice president.

Miller, 53, a pharmacist with 30 years of retail pharmacy experience, will oversee day-to-day pharmacy store operations, with a focus on execution and customer service, clinical pharmacy programs, pharmacy acquisitions and pharmacy technology initiatives. He reports to Robert Thompson, executive vice president of pharmacy.

Miller joined Rite Aid in June 2007 as vice president of pharmacy operations after the company acquired Brooks Eckerd.

“Since joining Rite Aid two years ago, he has made many significant contributions to our company,” Thompson commented. “His experience and understanding of the chain drug industry will be instrumental in our continuing efforts to grow our business and improve the pharmacy customer experience.”

Also a pharmacist, Staniforth, 48, has more than 20 years’ experience in retail pharmacy. In her new position she will oversee and support field pharmacy operations as well as pharmacy standards of practice, regulatory compliance, policies and procedures. She reports to Miller.

Staniforth joined Rite Aid in 1998 as a graduate pharmacy intern after moving to the United States from South Africa, where she started her career as a pharmacist.
