Rite Aid serves up weight-loss guide, online tools

CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid Corp. is teaming up with Harvard University, fitness expert Denise Austin and weight-control program provider Lindora Inc. to help its customers lose weight in 2010.

The drug store chain said Tuesday that the heart of program is a 16-page weight management guide with information from Harvard Medical School.

The guide, which is being distributed free in more than 4,800 Rite Aid stores nationwide and online at riteaid.com, provides weight management information that can be incorporated into an individual’s daily routine. It features such topics as how to determine body mass index and body shape; how extra weight affects personal health; the benefits of small weight loss; childhood obesity; seven tips for healthy eating; physical activity and how much is enough; and keeping the weight off.

In addition, the site offers interactive tools, nutritional tips and a variety of weight-loss exercises, including many of Austin’s favorites, according to Rite Aid.

Also available free is the Rite Weight Plan powered by Lindora. Offered at riteaid.com/rightweigthplan.com, the plan is said to help participants lose as much as 10% of their body weight in just 10 weeks.
