Roundy’s to buy in-store pharmacies from Aurora

MILWAUKEE — Roundy’s Supermarkets Inc. plans to acquire all pharmacies operated by Aurora Health Care in its Pick ‘n Save and Copps supermarkets in Wisconsin.

The grocery retailer and wholesaler said it expects to begin operating the 20 pharmacies next month, pending regulatory approvals. The locations include 12 Pick ‘n Save and eight Copps units.

Roundy’s has 154 retail grocery stores and 88 pharmacies under the Pick ‘n Save, Copps, Rainbow and Metro Market banners in Wisconsin and Minnesota.

A nonprofit, integrated health care provider, Aurora operates more than 110 community pharmacies in eastern Wisconsin. The pharmacies include freestanding drug stores as well as pharmacies within supermarkets, clinics and hospitals, according to the company.
