HALIFAX, Nova Scotia — Natural skin care company Skinfix Inc. is merging with SweetSpot LABS, a maker of feminine skin care products.

Skinfix said Thursday that the addition of Culver City, Calif.-based SweetSpot will complement its roster of skin healing balms, washes, lotions and creams, which are designed to alleviate a wide range of skin conditions.

SweetSpot’s pH-balanced feminine skin care products use natural ingredients and are free of glycerin, sulfates, parabens, alcohol, gluten, soy and dairy. Products in the clinically tested, gynecologist-recommended line include Spot Fresh! Gentle Wash, Spot Refresh! On-the-Go Wipettes and 100% Love It! Moisturizer.

“There is tremendous opportunity to shake up the feminine care market and build on the cult following of SweetSpot LABS products,” stated Amy Gordinier-Regan, chief executive officer of Halifax, Nova Scotia-based Skinfix. “A women’s sweet spot is one of the most sensitive areas of the body, and using everyday body washes or bar soaps that have the wrong pH, stripping cleansers and glycerin can upset the natural, healthy chemistry.”

Skinfix said it plans to refresh the SweetSpot LABS brand as well as launch the SweetSpot products in three new collections, including Citrus Galbanum, Geranium Lavender and Unscented.

“We are excited to build on the SweetSpot LABS products, and the new collections are infused with natural essential oil fragrances that are fresh, clean and a more upscale offering than what’s currently in the market,” commented Francine Krenicki, senior vice president of product development at Skinfix. “The heart of each fragrance is citrus, which fits in perfectly with the right pH profile, won’t contribute to irritation and has the ability to naturally deodorize.”

Skinfix’s products use a blend of vitamins, minerals, botanical oils and plant extracts to relieve and prevent an array of skin problems, such as eczema and dermatitis, infant/toddler eczema, diaper rash, chronic dry skin, dry and cracked hands, hand eczema, chafing, adult incontinence rash, skinfold irritation, pressure sores and diabetic foot ulcers.
