CHICAGO — Sunstar Americas Inc. has added three new lines of children’s toothbrushes featuring characters from Saban’s Power Rangers, Lalaloopsy and DreamWorks Animation’s How to Train Your Dragon 2.

Sunstar GUM new kids toothbrushes

Sunstar GUM’s new children’s toothbrushes feature characters from Saban’s Power Rangers, Lalaloopsy and DreamWorks’ How to Train Your Dragon 2.

Due to roll out to retail stores next month, the new “fun” toothbrushes will expand the Sunstar GUM roster of children’s oral care products, joining the full line of GUM Crayola toothbrushes, toothpaste and flossers, SunStar said Tuesday.

The GUM Power Rangers toothbrushes help kids fight off cavities and help prevent gum disease by brushing their teeth with the help of their favorite Red, Blue and Black Power Rangers Dino Charge. The brushes are offered in two styles: a battery-operated power toothbrush and a manual light-up toothbrush.

The light-up toothbrush features a one-minute flashing timer light to teach children good brushing habits by indicating how long they should brush each side of the mouth. Dental professionals recommend brushing for two minutes, and the flashing timer light teaches children to brush for one minute on each half of the mouth. The GUM Power Rangers toothbrushes are available for the suggested retail price of $4.99 to $6.49 for the power toothbrushes and $2.80 to $3.40 for the light-up toothbrushes.

Sunstar said the Lalaloopsy license under the GUM brand is the company’s first line of toothbrushes designed specifically for girls. The Lalaloopsy doll characters are available in manual and light-up toothbrushes. The manual toothbrushes, with a built-in tongue cleaner and an easy-to-hold handle shape, feature the characters Tippy Tumbelina, Crumbs Sugar Cookie, Spot Splatter Splash and Mittens Fluff and Stuff. The light-up brushes feature the characters Blossom Flowerpot, Pillow Featherbed and Bea Spells-a-Lot and have the same features as the Power Rangers light-up toothbrush. The Lalaloopsy toothbrushes are priced at $3.60 to $4.10 for a twin pack of the manual toothbrushes and $2.80 to $3.40 for the light-up brushes.

The GUM DreamWorks’ How to Train Your Dragon 2 manual toothbrushes come with a built-in tongue cleaner and ean asy-to-hold handle for even the smallest hands, Sunstar said. The brushes feature the dragon characters Toothless, Stormfly, and Meatlug and their respective riders, Hiccup, Astrid and Fishlegs. The brushes are price at $3.60 to $4.10 for a twin pack.

All three character lines offer soft, raised inner bristles, which provide exceptional plaque removal while cleaning below the gum line, Sunstar noted. The suction-cup base holds the toothbrush upright, helping to keep bristles clean and reduce counter clutter.

“Parents will be able to make brushing more fun for their children with the help of these popular licensed characters from Power Rangers, Lalaloopsy and DreamWorks Animation’s How to Train Your Dragon 2. These new manual, power and light-up tooth brushes will help take some of the stress out of the morning and bedtime brushing routines with these engaging characters so that building healthy oral care habits early will be just a bit easier,” stated Matt Moon, senior manager for commercialization at Sunstar Americas.
