Agreement with Diplomat now includes affiliate program

PLYMOUTH, Minn. — Thrifty White Pharmacy and Diplomat Pharmacy have expanded their current specialty pharmacy agreement to include Thrifty White’s affiliated pharmacies.

Thrifty White Rx customerThrifty White said Tuesday that the new program with Flint, Mich.-based Diplomat, the nation’s largest independent specialty pharmacy, enables its affiliated pharmacies to provide full-service specialty medication support — including 24/7 pharmacist access — to patients with complex diseases.

This model, by supporting patients in their local store, creates additional in-person pharmacist touchpoints and improves medication therapy management outcomes, according to Thrifty White president and chief executive officer Bob Narveson.

“This offering is another example of how our company is 100%-focused on medication adherence and exceeding the expectations of our patients, helping them simplify their lives and controlling their overall health spend,” Narveson said in a statement.

Over the past six months, Thrifty White’s partnership with Diplomat has delivered an industry-leading 92% adherence rate, Thrifty White reported. Pharmacies in the affiliate program can receive specialty accreditation through a partnership with the Center for Pharmacy Practice Accreditation (CPPA), enabling them to meet the requirements necessary for access to a variety of payer networks and medications.

Once pharmacies are enrolled in the affiliate network program, Thrifty White also provides enhanced marketing and sales support, ensuring that independent pharmacy owners have the tools to target key providers and build their specialty business. Those are two core features of the program, noted director of specialty pharmacy Jeremy Faulks.

“Building a successful specialty pharmacy program requires layers of investment on top of being able to offer services. Our affiliate model ensures independent pharmacies are not only able to offer specialty services, but have the tools necessary to engage in their communities, creating local relationships and maximizing their growth,” Faulks stated.

Overall, Thrifty White Pharmacy has 79 affiliated pharmacies around the country and operates 91 Thrifty White locations in Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
