ARLINGTON, Va. — Former Secretary of State and Retired Army Gen. Colin Powell will be the keynote speaker at the 2017 NACDS Total Store Expo.
The National Association of Chain Drug Stores said Powell will speak at the event’s business session on Sunday, August 20. TSE runs from August 19 through August 22 in San Diego.
Powell will bring insights from his over-50-year career in public service and global affairs to the expo as it explores topics on international and corporate social responsibility.
“We are honored to welcome Ret. Gen. Powell to the NACDS Total Store Expo,” said NACDS president and chief executive officer Steve Anderson. “He is uniquely qualified to share insights on both the military and diplomatic aspects of pressing global issues.
“His inspiring leadership at the America’s Promise Alliance and his commitment to our youth also will be of interest to attendees — with the focus NACDS is bringing to corporate social responsibility.”
Powell is perhaps best known for holding senior military and diplomatic positions across four presidential administrations, serving in such capacities as national security advisor, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and secretary of state.
He is the founder and chairman emeritus of America’s Promise Alliance, dedicated to forging an effective partnership that is committed to seeing that children have the fundamental resources they need to succeed.
