NEW YORK — Kerr Drug and Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy have both teamed up with mobile pharmacy solutions provider mscripts to offer their patients the ability to manage their ­prescriptions from a mobile phone.

The mobile apps that are being offered by the chains allow smartphone users to refill a prescription by simply scanning the QR code that is provided on a prescription bottle. These patients can receive pickup and dosage reminders on their smartphones as well.

A text-messaging option for non-smartphone users enables these patients to receive many of the same benefits.

“A mobile option allows our patients to convert their phones into medical wallets to easily manage their prescriptions and access a wide range of our pharmacy services.”

The Kerr and Pharmaca apps and mobile websites each operate on a secure network that was created by San Francisco-based mscripts.

Executives at mscripts and the drug chains say the advent of mobile apps for pharmacy services is helping to expand consumers’ options and making it easier to interact with their pharmacists.
