• 

  Dec. 6 – Buying a Pharmacy webinar, part of our Business Booster Series presented by NCPA corporate members. Bo Garmon, loan officer with First Financial Bank, will discuss the basic understanding of financial statements including identifying various accounting documents, terminology, and procedures and their roles in maintaining viable clinical services. Learn more and register.

• Dec. 15 – NASPA Pharmacy-Based Point-of-Care Test-and-Treat National Certificate Program, online. Point-of-care test-and-treat empowers clinicians to use effective, fast technology to aid their decision making and improve patient health. This 20-hour ACPE-accredited certificate program is for the entire pharmacy team and includes material on key disease states, physical assessment, point-of-care tests and treatment, and POCT business models. Learn more and register.
• Dec. 15 – Don’t Say We Didn’t Warn You: Preparing for the DIR Hangover, DSCSA, and Other Regulatory Items That Should Be On Your 2023 Pharmacy Checklist webinar. DIR, Medicare Part D, USP, and DSCSA all have changes coming next year and beyond. How should pharmacy teams prepare? Tripp Logan will walk through what to do to be ready for upcoming DIR changes and NCPA’s Steve Postal, JD, and Lisa Schwartz, PharmD, will talk about the 2023 Pharmacy Checklist and best business practices to prepare. Learn more and register.
• Dec. 31 – Applications due for the NCPA executive residency in association management, the NCPA Student Leadership Council, the experiential rotation in association management, and the summer internship program.
  • Conducted at NCPA headquarters in Alexandria, Va., the executive residency is a springboard into a career of association work and leadership or independent practice. The NCPA executive resident gains insight and experience in project management, advocacy, meeting planning, and communications through this yearlong program. Learn more and apply.
  • The NCPA Student Leadership Council exists to represent student pharmacist members of the association. It promotes the profession of pharmacy and the role of independent pharmacists, facilitating effective communication between NCPA student chapters and the NCPA Department of Student Affairs and supporting the development of future leaders in community pharmacy. Learn more and apply.
  • The experiential rotation, while flexible, is designed to be four to six weeks in duration and is available year-round for pharmacy students. The rotation is intended to be an elective feature of a school or college of pharmacy’s curriculum-based experiential program and gives students a chance to participate in diverse projects with NCPA staff, members, and student chapters. Learn more and apply.
  • NCPA and the NCPA Foundation sponsor a 10-week summer internship program at NCPA headquarters in Alexandria, Va. This program provides a pharmacy student with an excellent opportunity to experience life at a national association while learning more about independent community pharmacy practice. Learn more and apply.
• Jan. 10 – Opening a Pharmacy webinar, part of our Business Booster Series presented by NCPA corporate members. Drew Hegi, loan officer with First Financial Bank, will go over the SBA loan process and discuss the importance of a business plan and its role in providing pharmacy-based patient care services. Learn more and register.
• Jan. 28-29 – NCPA Pharmacy Ownership Workshop, online. Consider this a crash course on pharmacy ownership. A team of experts will answer the nitty-gritty questions about the loan approval process, licensure agreements, creating a start-up checklist, writing a business plan, designing an effective store layout, and more. It’s a can’t-miss program for new pharmacy owners, those planning to someday open their own store, and those thinking about taking the next step in the industry. Learn more and register.

Registration is open for NCPA’s 2023 Multiple Locations Conference, which will be held Feb. 22-25, 2023, at the Wyndham Grand Clearwater Beach in Clearwater, Fla. According to the 2022 NCPA Digest, sponsored by Cardinal Health, 32 percent of independent community pharmacy owners have ownership in two or more pharmacies. Many others may aspire to own multiple pharmacies. NCPA’s Multiple Locations Conference is where savvy owners come to learn to manage the complexity that can come with additional stores and discover solutions and strategies to make their pharmacies thrive.
