DENVER — UrgentRx has launched a new line of fast-acting, powdered medications in convenient, credit card-size packets that can be taken anytime, anywhere.

The Colorado-based startup said Monday its initial product line includes UrgentRx Aspirin to Go, UrgentRx Headache Relief to Go and UrgentRx Ache & Pain Relief to Go.

According to UrgentRx, the over-the-counter medications are formulated in a pleasant-tasting powder that doesn’t require liquid to take and works nearly 2.5 times faster than traditional pills or tablets. The credit card-size packets also are designed to easily fit in a wallet or purse credit card slot, are significantly more portable than pill containers and are readily available in times of medical emergencies, the company said.

The UrgentRx line is available now at such food and drug retailers as King Soopers, City Market, Hy-Vee and Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy.

UrgentRx Aspirin to Go was specifically developed as a solution for the first signs of a heart attack, UrgentRx noted, adding that the product’s introduction comes amid American Heart Health Month in February. Aspirin’s main benefit during a heart attack is that it makes blood platelets less prone to clotting, and research shows that taking aspirin in powdered form enables the bloodstream to absorb the medication about 2.5 times faster than swallowing an aspirin pill whole, the company said.
