USF TCOP’s Pooja Patel named Outstanding Faculty Liaison of the Year

ALEXANDRIA, Va. Pooja Patel, an assistant professor at the University of South Florida Taneja College of Pharmacy in Tampa, Fla., has been named the 2020 Outstanding Faculty Liaison of the Year by the National Community Pharmacists Association Foundation as part of NCPA’s Annual Convention, which was held virtually.

Patel received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences University in Boston, after which she completed an Advanced Community Residency with Walgreens and MCPHS University. Since joining USF TCOP, Patel practices as an ambulatory care pharmacist at the Tampa General Medical Group family medicine clinic in Riverview, Fla. She works as part of an interdisciplinary team to manage chronic disease states focusing on cardiovascular and metabolic therapeutic areas.

Patel is the course coordinator for the USF TCOP Pharmacotherapeutics I course offered to the P2 students and the Ambulatory Care Elective offered to the P3 students. She has been awarded P2 Teacher of the Year for the last two years (2019 and 2020) and was awarded Preceptor of the Year in 2019.

She also serves as a faculty advisor for NCPA’s student chapter at USF TCOP.

Patel says she is honored to be named NCPA Foundation’s 2020 Outstanding Faculty Liaison of the Year and adds that it would not be possible without the support of her amazing students at USF TCOP who nominated her for this prestigious award.
