KEASBEY, N.J. — There has been significant movement within the executive ranks at one of the largest retailer-owned cooperatives in the United States.

On the heels of promoting Chris Skyers to vice president of corporate merchandising, Wakefern Food Corp. has now tapped Cathy Magistrelli as vice president of health and beauty care.

Magistrelli joined Wakefern in 2002 as part of the company’s intensive leader in training management program. She began her career with the company as an associate buyer in grocery and continued on to hold positions in general merchandise, grocery and dairy.

Before being appointed to her new role, Magistrelli was working in procurement in grocery.

Skyers, before being named as vice president of corporate merchandising, served as Wakefern’s vice president for health and beauty care, a position he was appointed to in October 2011.

Skyers joined Wakefern in 1999 as human resources business partner, a post that he held for about two years. He then spent a year as a procurement analyst before being named a category manager in 2002.

Headquartered in Keasbey, N.J., Wakefern operates more than 2.5 million square feet of grocery and nonfood warehousing.
Cooperatively owned by and built upon a foundation of independent retailers, the enterprise is now comprised of 50 members.
