ARLINGTON, Va. — Cardinal Health executive Jon Giacomin has been elected to a second term as chairman of the Healthcare Distribution Alliance board of directors.

HDA announced the re-election of Giacomin, chief executive officer of Cardinal Health’s pharmaceutical segment, at the 2017 HDA Annual Board and Membership Meeting, held Sept. 24 to 27 in Laguna Hills, Calif.

Henry Dale Smith Jr., chairman and CEO of H.D. Smith Holding Co., was re-elected as HDA vice chairman at the meeting.

“HDA is pleased to welcome back Jon and Dale,” HDA president and CEO John Gray said in a statement. “Their steady leadership will help shape the alliance’s efforts to promote the critical role of pharmaceutical distributors, whose expertise ensures the safety and efficiency of the supply chain every day.”

Other pointments to the HDA board of directors include Fred Battah, CEO of HPC Rx; Earl English, president of CuraScript SD; and Michael Holmes, CEO of Principal Dynamics and CEO of Quality Care Products LLC.

The Healthcare Distribution Alliance represents primary pharmaceutical distributor, which link the nation’s drug manufacturers with more than 200,000 pharmacies, hospitals, long-term care facilities, clinics and other providers across the country.
