BROOMFIELD, Colo. — Horizon Organic is offering new aseptic quarts for milk in special packaging that locks in taste with a longer shelf life.

The WhiteWave Foods Co. dairy brand said the 60-day shelf life doubles that of conventionally packaged, ultra-pasteurized half-gallon milk. The aseptic quarts will be available for whole milk, reduced fat milk and chocolate lowfat milk.

In addition, the Horizon Organic aseptic quarts for the cooler door will offer a lower shelf price than Horizon Organic half-gallons.

Horizon Organic said the aseptic quarts will be rolled out to drug stores and convenience stores and appeal to shoppers and families who keep organic labels top-of-mind.

According to the company, 73% of consumers are interested in foods labeled “organic,” and nearly a third would pay more for foods labeled organic.
