PALM BEACH, Fla. — The National Association of Chain Drug Stores board of directors was expected to approve a slate of new officers for the 2012/13 year at a session held here on April 21, the first day of the NACDS Annual Meeting.

Greg Wasson, president and chief executive officer of Walgreen Co., was in line to become chairman of the NACDS board; Thrifty White Stores president and CEO Bob Narveson was nominated to succeed Wasson as vice chairman; and John Standley, president and CEO of Rite Aid Corp., was in line to become treasurer. NACDS president and CEO Steve Anderson and corporate secretary Jim Huber would retain those roles.

In a separate vote this morning, five new members were expected to be added to the board.

The nominees were A.J. Caffentzis, senior vice president of sales and marketing at AmerisourceBergen Drug Co., which operates the Good Neighbor Pharmacy network; Mark Cosby, president of CVS/pharmacy; Mark Murray, president of Meijer Inc.; Juan Ortiz, CEO of Navarro Discount Pharmacy; and Frank Scorpiniti, CEO of Katz Group Canada.

In addition to board nomination matters, directors faced several difficult urgent issues, including Medicaid reimbursements and rules governing PBMs.
