CHICAGO — Next month, Prestige Brands Holdings Inc. chief financial officer David Marberger is slated to leave the company to join ConAgra Foods Inc. as executive vice president and CFO.

Plans call for Marberger to take over the CFO post on Aug. 29, ConAgra said Thursday. Reporting to report to president and chief executive officer Sean Connolly, he succeeds John Gehring, who previously announced his plans to retire. Gehring will remain with ConAgra until the end of September to help with Marberger’s transition.

“I am honored to join ConAgra Foods at such an exciting time,” Dave Marberger stated. “I look forward to working closely with Sean and the rest of the team as we complete the spin-off of Lamb Weston and deliver enhanced focus and improved performance and shareholder value.”

ConAgra noted that Marberger brings more than 30 years of finance and leadership experience to the company, including significant consumer packaged goods expertise.

Marberger has served as CFO at Prestige Brands, a provider of over-the-counter health care products, with a portfolio of more than 80 brands, since October 2015. Before joining Prestige Brands, he was senior vice president and CFO at Godiva Chocolatier Inc. for seven years. Prior to that, he held positions of increasing responsibility at Tasty Baking Co., where he served as executive vice president and CFO, and at Campbell Soup Co., where he last held the position of vice president of finance for the food and beverage division in 10 years at the company.
