CVS Health names Kelly Munson as president, Aetna Medicaid

WOONSOCKET, R.I. – CVS Health announced Thursday that Kelly Munson has joined the company as president, Aetna Medicaid. She will report to Daniel Finke, executive vice president, CVS Health, and president, Health Care Benefits Segment.

In this role, Munson will oversee business strategy, operations and company growth with a focus on delivering differentiated health care solutions that address member and provider needs. She and her team will implement the latest technologies, capabilities and innovations to serve Aetna Medicaid’s approximately 2.6 million members in 16 states.

Munson joins CVS Health from WellCare Health Plans, where she led growth, strategy and profit and loss (P&L) across 14 markets for the company’s Medicaid business as Executive Vice President, Chief Medicaid Officer. During her 14-year tenure with WellCare, she held various leadership roles with the company’s Kentucky and Ohio health plans, including senior vice president, division president, region president and state president.

“As an industry leader, Kelly brings an innovative vision and passion for creating solutions to lower costs and improve health outcomes for Medicaid beneficiaries,” said Finke. “Her understanding of how to maximize technology and strategy across the evolving Medicaid managed care landscape, along with her ability to develop relationships with key stakeholders, will provide Aetna Medicaid with the talent and resources to address the challenges brought on by the pandemic and the expanding needs of our members.”

Munson previously served in leadership positions with HomeTown Health Network and Medical Mutual of Ohio.

She graduated from Syracuse University with a bachelor’s degree in dietetics and public health nutrition and did graduate work in public administration at the University of Akron.
