Upcoming NCPA items for pharmacy teams

ALEXANDRIA, Va.  – The National Community Pharmacists Association is pleased to announce these upcoming items for pharmacists and pharmacy team members:

  • Nov. 3: Supply Chain Security and Upcoming NDC Changes, CE webinar. Food and Drug Administration Senior Policy Advisor Connie Jung and pharmacist Julian Chun will go over what pharmacists need to know ahead of new requirements set by the Drug Supply Chain Security Act due in November 2023, and about proposed National Drug Code changes coming into effect. Learn more and register.
  • Nov. 4: Release date for the first episode of “Show Me,” produced by the NCPA Innovation Center and made possible with support from Pfizer. First announced during the 2022 NCPA Annual Convention in early October, “Show Me” is NCPA’s new educational reality series styled after popular TV makeover shows, only these stars are real pharmacists who need help getting a particular aspect of their business on track.   • Nov. 14: Hearing Aids – What’s the Opportunity?, non-CE webinar. As of Oct. 17, 2022, over-the-counter lower-cost hearing aids can be sold without a prescription or medical exam, potentially saving individuals thousands of dollars. For the millions of Americans with mild-to-moderate hearing loss, care is now more accessible and affordable than ever before.   • Dec. 15: NASPA Pharmacy-Based Point-of-Care Test-and-Treat National Certificate Program, online. Point-of-care test-and-treat empowers clinicians to use effective, fast technology to aid their decision making at the point of care to improve patient health. This 20-hour ACPE-accredited certificate program is for your entire pharmacy team and includes material on key disease states, physical assessment, point-of-care tests and treatment, and POCT business models. Learn more and register.

Additionally, applications are now open for Pathways to Pharmacy Ownership. Through this online program, NCPA aims to support and prepare minority pharmacists for pharmacy ownership. Selected pharmacists will gain access to expert-led webinars and discussions on business principles, scholarships to attend NCPA’s Pharmacy Ownership Workshop, and business plan reviews by industry experts. The application deadline is Nov. 21, 2022. Learn more and apply.

NCPA offers a variety of on-demand programs available to pharmacy teams to take on their own schedule. These include Creating Health: Pharmacist-Led Lifestyle and Weight Management, a functional medicine series titled Thinking Outside the Vial, and an on-demand Business of Long-Term Care Workshop.
