American Greetings rolls out cards with music CDs

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

CLEVELAND — American Greetings Corp. is introducing cards that include a CD containing a mixed compilation of popular music.

The greeting cards giant said Monday that the new CD compilation cards combine both a gift and a message. Shoppers can choose from cards with CDs coordinated by decade, musical theme or mood.

Every CD contains five songs from various artists, compiled to best fit the theme or mood featured. For instance, one festive party mix features popular all-time hits "What I Like About You" by the Romantics, "Walk This Way" by Run DMC, "Turn the Beat Around" by Vicki Sue Robinson, "I’m So Excited" by the Pointer Sisters and "Hot Hot Hot" by Buster Poindexter and His Banshees of Blue. Also, a collection of classical music, "for wonderful, unforgettable you," is highlighted by compositions from composers such as Mozart, Strauss and Liszt.

"Our consumers love the enhancement of music in the cards they share, and these new greetings take that enjoyment to the next level," commented Mary McClain, creative director of new product concepts at American Greetings. "The combination of a truly memorable gift and a thoughtful sentiment makes the offering a unique keepsake that can be enjoyed over and over again."

The CD compilation cards are available at drug chains, supermarkets and supercenters nationwide, American Greetings said.
